Associations turn to "Hybridized" as the model for impactful learning

Hybridized learning defined:

  • Learning that may include badging or accreditation that is available in a combined model that can include:
    • In-person classroom learning
    • Virtual learning through live or on-demand video and other learning mediums
    • 2 Way communication between student and teacher for questions but also for quiz’s, tests and other means to validate learning

A tweet from a participant in this programming summed up the benefits of this program in less than 140 characters -

“This program has the benefits of classroom learning with the low cost of virtual learning”.

Educators believe that in person learning creates so much more than just virtual learning, because of the networking and peer to peer learning opportunities in a class and “after-class”.

But, the cost of travel to select events can be prohibitive in a world where continued learning is now a must, not an option.

Associations are turning to Hybridized learning, to create more member value.  Progressive associations are creating formats that allow for both in-person and virtual learning to balance cost and total learning.  The mixing of these formats is seen as the future to ensure that learning can be self-paced, affordable and accessible while integrating opportunities to bring people together.

In the video, this event used both live and pre-recorded sessions to create a curriculum that was available to audiences in multiple cities.  Each city audience had time to meet indepentently and learn from the topics and the local facilitator as well as participate in the livestreamed curriculum.

Taking this further, it could be more than an event.  It could be a “series” of learnings or accreditation courses over months were some of the learning is individual and self-serve or self-paced and others are in person classroom.  Quiz’s, tests, questions can happen in both environments and be tracked against badging or accreditation, using the LMS capabilities of Association TV® or your own LMS, empowered with video learning.

Consider Hybridized Learning to maximize attendance and learning impact.
